PMS is the short form of Premenstrual syndrome
The exact cause of PMS has not been  identified.
Changes in brain hormone levels may play a role, but this  has not been proven. 
It refers to a wide range of physical  or emotional symptoms that
typically occur about 5 to 11 days before a  woman starts HER monthly menstrual cycle.
The symptoms typically ending with the onset of her menstrual flow.  
PMS is a combination of 
emotional, 
physical, 
psychological, 
mood disturbances
that occur after a woman's ovulation 
The most common mood-related symptoms are  
irritability
depression 
crying
over sensitivity
mood swings with alternating sadness and anger
The most common physical symptoms are
fatigue
bloating
breast tenderness (mastalgia)
acne
appetite changes with food cravings
